Hi, I’m Melissa, the creator behind Rusty Hinge Stitchery!

Like many makers, I’ve explored all kinds of creative hobbies over the years. My journey started with crochet, grew into quilting, and eventually led me to discover my true passion: cross stitch. Along the way, I realized that finding beautiful, functional project bags wasn’t always easy, so I began sewing my own.

After making project bags for myself, friends, and family, I decided it was time to share them with the stitching community. In 2025, I turned my love of sewing and cross stitch into Rusty Hinge Stitchery—a small business dedicated to creating handcrafted project bags and accessories that are as practical as they are beautiful.

Every item is thoughtfully made with quality materials and attention to detail because I believe your projects deserve a home that’s just as special as the time and care you put into creating them.

When I’m not in my sewing room, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, tending our garden, caring for our chickens, dogs, and cats, or tackling home improvement projects with my husband, Jeff.
